Aden Government Guards
The Aden Government Guards were formed in 1938 and were deployed throughout the Western Aden Protectorate. In 1959 the GG was merged with the various Tribal Guards and titled the Federal National Guard.
The ceremonial headdress was a black turban or pagri with a green flash on the left side. The flash was manufactured with a fringe along the bottom edge which seems to have been intended to represent the fringe's turban end so often seen on Indian army headress.. Superimposed on the flash was a blackened brass badge. |

A very nice item Eddie. I note that the badge does not have the crown on it which may date it. The cap badge with the crown came out in 1946 if I recall correctly and at some stage it was removed. Does any one know when and why?
