Default 1940s BOAC Wing - or BOAC Stewards Cap Badge?

Can anyone give a definitive answer as to what badge this is?

I have had this badge in my collection for a number of years as a c-1940 BOAC aircrew wing, but have recently seen it on a dealers website as a Flight Attendants Cap Badge. I have also seen it on dealers sites as an aircrew wing.

The BOAC did have a solid brass cap badge, and also a solid brass/gilt pilots wing, both in differing styles. This is probably more akin to a cap badge, the wartime BOAC wing being rather fine.

But does anyone have a definitive answer, or better still, a photo of it being worn?

Many thanks!

Actually, having a scout around Ive answered my question (having not got any hits to now!) Obviously a Flight Attendant wing, the cap badge being just the lion without the wreath and crown as worn by officers.

Well done, I've never seen that badge before, not that I know anything about civil airline insignia - I like the badge (I'm looking for a Laker Airways Stewardesses badge myself).

Merci!

I dont collect civil airline insignia myself either, but BOAC did a lot of ViP flights during the war, and war related flights, using many camouflaged aircraft.

It seems its actually a general aircrew wing, WW2 era.

This from the wartime booklet 'Merchant Airmen'.
