Airborne IX Troop Carrier Command
Members of the Forum,
Unfortunately the company's formatting "conveniently" prevents my directly presenting their imagery of the formation badge. The specific web site is; https://www.ima-usa.com/collections/...-carrier-patch In my personal opinion they are frequently offering reproductions at highly inflated prices. Would sincerely appreciate the opinion of forum members on this specific badge. Arnhem Jim Arizona Territory Last edited by Arnhem Jim; 05-06-21 at 03:05 PM. |

I could not get anything to show up. I can recommend a trustworthy friend who deals primarily in US Airborne if you are wanting a IX TC patch. I did a quick check and he has one listed.
https://topkickmilitaria.net/marine-...-insignia.html He is very knowledgeable and only sells genuine items. Tell him I sent you. Good luck, Terry |

IX Airborne Troop Crrier Command
Hello Mike,
Thank you very much. Appreciate your computer skills. A lot easier to make the direct comparison with a righteous formation badge. Arnhem Jim |

Mike, the one you show in your is definitely a fake. I have never seen an American or British made American patch with that backing.
Jim, the two you show look good and the second one looks British made. I would be very careful and buy from only a reputable dealer because there are so many fakes of American airborne patches, especially after SPR and BoB. If you get one be sure to have the option to return it and once you have it in hand do a black light test. An original should not glow, while fakes usually do glow due to synthetic threads. You can also maybe do a burn test, but the black light is just easier. Here's a link to my former airborne collection which may be helpful to you. https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...p?albumid=4014 Good luck, Terry |

IX Airborne Troop Crrier Command
To All Respondents,
Sincere thanks. I have called the company in question on several occasions, and they just get very indignant and continue to pass the stuff off. Personal opinion, they are blatantly brazen. Every thing from fake RAF MkXIII Googles, RHA "Full Dress Officer's Busby", "antique RCMP pilllbox forage cap". God only knows the German WWII militaria being passed off. All at unbelievably inflated prices. Absolutely pathetic. Puts the majority of fraudulent UK militaria dealers to shame. Suffices CAVEAT EMPTOR!! As Mr. "T" would say "Pity the Fool!" "This is a nice original English made 8th Air Force patch. This is a hard to find patch from one of the most famous Air Forces in WWII. The patch is in nice condition. This is a very nice hard to find patch." |

Despite the usage of the word nice, I see nothing wrong with the description of that particular badge.

Have you read the other descriptions? He seems to specialise in nice, hard to find patches that are nice and hard to find.
It is his website and he can describe his patches how he likes, but it amused me. |

No, I just looked at the badge you referred to, it does appear to be made here, I don't think it is unreasonable to describe the Eighth as a famous unit, I do think, from the photographs, that badge is in good condition and that these badge are certainly not getting any easier to find.
It is his website, but, I also take into account his nationality and if that is the way he wants to describe what he sells I would not have issue with unless he was selling something as original when it was not. |
