On the 14th Sept 1897, a cap badge Pattern 4529/1897 was authorised for the Derbyshire Regiment. The record is in the National Archives ref WO 359/vol9/p25, with the description…
A Maltese Cross surmounted by a Crown, in the centre a Hart, sitting, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, on the side arms scrolls embossed "Sherwood" and "Foresters" and below the Cross a scroll embossed "DERBYSHIRE". The scroll is in GM and the remainder in WM.
This badge was superseded by the Notts & Derby badge on 1st December 1903 as Pattern 6009/1903 ref WO 359/vol 12/p249 and vol 135, p36. It was as the Derby Pattern except that it has the Tudor Crown [ie KC] and the scroll is embossed “NOTTS & DERBY”.

The Kings Crown "Derbyshire" badge?
1897 would be the Victorian Crown, supersceeded in 1903 by the King's Crown " Notts & Derby?
Have I missed a reference to a King's Crown "Derbyshire" badge?

They are encountered on occasion, but, I have never actually seen one that I would regard as original.

I'm just a little confused re. KLR's last post.
I took it to be confirming the existence of pukka (as opposed to the fake) King's Crown Derbyshire but it only refers to Victorian Crown Derbyshire and King's Crown Notts & Derby.
Have I misinterpreted?

I hav'nt seen a King's Crown Derbyshire in the flesh for a couple of decades or more, the last one I saw and handled was sworn to be genuine by the dealer concerned but it just didn't look it to me

Just old and befuddled - what I was trying to look at the different design and time of them.

Every K/c Derbyshire I have seen has been a fake. I believe the crown and title changed at the same time.
