I have had it at least 10 years. Never seen a half sized Manchester Regiment VB bullion headress badge before to any Bn. They were in full size for the peaked Forage Cap of course, in Gold for Regulars and Silver for Volunteers (both one piece and 2 piece) but only seen a numbered one to the 6th VB. regards

Simon,
Do you find that the VB's are a bit of a law unto themselves when it comes to badges? I keep coming up with VB badges to the Y&L that don't fit with the normal convention or appear to be oddities or maybe one offs. If so, why do you think that is? I personally think its down to the fact that VB officers have a lot of scope and freedom to privately purchase. Ivan

I think that all the Bn.'s of the Manchester Regiment pre WW1 were a law unto themselves with regards to cap badges. I am aware of at least 17 different styles of OSD cap badges being worn within a 14 year period from 1901 - 1915, many at the same time. Most people reading this wont be able to think of that many, but I have just checked my frames and that number is accurate. Add onto that Pagri badges, Bullion badges and silver & gilt badges and the amount is staggering! regards

No name in it, but there were only 4 Company Officers of the MI Coy, 2nd VB in the period it was worn, so I have a 25% chance or guessing correctly I suppose. regards
