Button Excitement...!
Well, I'm really thrilled and excited to add this button to my collection.
A very early (the earliest known I believe) Shropshire Militia Button circa 1798. With the assistance of a dear friend I won this at a UK auction some weeks back. Early Militia and my home county, what more could I ask.. Cheerio, Roy

Thanks Chaps,
Sometimes things just work out, so chuffed with this one. The maker is 'Williams' (marked twice) just visible one the back. A very early maker pre 1800. Cheerio, Roy

Isn't it William Willams?

I think the stamps reads 'William William' (separated by two stars one each side).
Can't see an 's' there. See attached some further details on this maker. But that's about all I have, so any help much appreciated. Cheerio, Roy

Correction to my last post.
Looking under the magnifying glass I think (?) it does say 'William Williams'. But that last 's' is almost unreadable. Cheerio, Roy

Hi Roy,
A very nice early button - and it looks to be in great condition as well. And the icing on the cake is that it is for your home County as well. Well done and thanks for showing it. Ian |

Thanks again guy,
Appreciate your kind words. As to construction; it's very thin/light and non magnet but is most certainly silver plated. Cheerio, Roy
