Default Australian field artillery militia

Hi all,

Just wanted to confirm that the badge below is indeed an Australia Field Artillery Militia collar badge and is it 1900-1912 era?

How common/rare are these?

Thanks,

Hello,

It is an Australian Field Artillery collar badge worn c1906 until circa 1922. The blackened finish (brass, coppered and oxidised) places it from about 1915 onwards.

Reasonably common.

G'day

The Field Artillery hat badge is 65 mm high by 42mm across the single scroll and has a right facing towed field gun. The collars are 38mm high.

The Garrison Artillery badge has a much larger non portable right facing gun, it is 70mm high by 48mm wide across the scrolls and it has 2 scrolls. Sorry I don't have a collar to measure.

I hope that this helps

Regards

Phil.
