Argylls Tam O`shanter
Hi gents,
Posting this for opinions. I think the badge looks ok with no die flaw on the second "L" but there are no markings inside to indicate the maker or age. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have. Regards Kevin |

Hello Kevin
All looks ok from the pictures, is that a quilted liner in the Tam? I think if so then Tam is before the 1960’s they changed after I believe to no liner ( for other ranks anyway) Gerard

Hi Gerard,
No the liner is not quilted but is a brown silk to the top of the TOS only, better pics attached. Novel way to retain the badge, a smoker probably. Kevin |

Gerard,
Thanks for that, yes cotter pins and brass backing plates on both collar dogs and cap badges were always, if grubby, a good way to fill the duty roster.. Kevin |

Nice TOS, but it is from the 70s even up to the 90s. The smaller crown and liner style are typical from those times.

CB,
Thanks for pinning down a time frame, been racking the old noggin and ISTR my ex Brother in Law giving it to me while we were both serving in Paderborn, with 3RTR, in the early 80`s. Thanks again Kevin |
