Lancashire Fusiliers Coloured Field Service Cap.
I was pleased to pick this cap up a couple of days ago, a Lancashire Fusiliers cap in unworn condition.
It has gold anodised aluminium "XX" buttons (the regiment being the old 20th Foot). I'm guessing that it dates from the 1960's, so probably worn during the infantry Administration Brigade period c1958 - 1968 in which case, if worn by the regular battalion it would bear the anodised aluminium left hand collar badge of the Fusilier Brigade (I'm taking it to be an Other Ranks cap from its quality and in the absence of metallic gold piping. If an officer's cap it would bear the officer's gold bullion and silver collar badge). If worn outside the brigade badge period or by a Territorial Army unit it would bear a regimental pattern badge, I don't know if this would have been a cap or collar badge (it would've been very nice if the cap had come fitted with an anodised aluminium LF badge, Id've been very pleased). Never having had a badge fitted I'll keep it that way although I'll store or display it alongside a suitable badge, probably the Fusilier Brigade anod. al. collar badge. |
