Hi Martyn,

Thanks for sharing this collection, very nice indeed. Such items are a great area to collection, very interesting from the normal badges well all have in our collection.

I only have one myself - in my Shropshire collection.

Keep up the good work.

Cheerio,

Roy

Many thanks Roy. I have one more regular brass with a small star mark under the central design which is possibly a makers mark but can't find reference to this. That's what makes insignia collecting interesting. You can research a single item many times. your Shropshire buckle is very nice.

Regards

Martyn

May I use your photo of the Warwickshire wbc on my site?

I appear to have used a photo of it taken at an angle that I must have got years ago.

I have a number of interesting Warwickshire clasps shown.

Hi Stenoyab,

What an excellent site! You are welcome to use the pictures in my album of my Royal Sussex volunteer WBC as I notice this is a photo you require.

KR,

Pete.

Thanks Martyn and Pete, photos added, and thanks for the kind comment Pete, I fear the website will always be a work in prgoress as more examples are always turning up, and I've barely started on volunteer and militia.

ps. very nice Clasp Roy, I have 2 or 3 volunteer Shropshire wbc's I will have to add when I get a chance.

Nice to see my buckle on there. What date would this buckle be approximately?

Thanks for using it.

Best wishes with the site

Martyn

Worn during the 1855-1881 period. And from wear worn for some time.
It doesn't conform to dress regulations, but as with many regiments they didn't appear to follow regulation.

I would guess the Crown 6 example I have shown on my site was the earliest, which then given the outer title is so similar the Antelope / "6" and Antelope / "IV" were worn next, which roughly match dress regulations for 1864 & 1874. Which suggests to me yours is late 1870's-1881.

But I'm happy for a regimental collector to correct me.

Many thanks.

Very interesting info. It's nicely made with the separate insignia attached by pegs through the main parts. They're really nice things.

Regards

Martyn
