1st Canadian Army RCCS flashes
Hello all,
Is there any significance to the full stops between the letters RCCS on these flashes, or is it simply manufacturing variation? There is a Pathe newsreel of 1st Canadian ASSU, which seems to show these flashes without the full stop. Could someone confirm please. Cheers Paul |

Hi Paul, What unit is the 1st Canadian ASSU? I searched Pathé and couldn't find it.
There is no real significance to the addition or absence of periods / stops in the titles. Mainly a manufacturing thing.

Hello Bill,
Thanks for the clarification on the full stops. I'd guessed this was the case. The search function on the site showed examples of both, and both types acknowledged as WW2 without adverse comment. Thanks for the confirmation. Mike, Thanks for the clarification- Yes, 1st Canadian Air Support Signals Unit the video is here, though I think the date must be 1943 rather than 1945. http://www.britishpathe.com/video/canadian-signals-unit The men are still wearing Field Service Caps, so pre Berets. Anyone know when the RCCS got their issue of berets? Not very much insignia worn by these men, 'Canada' flashes and the RCCS diamond it seems. Thanks again Paul |

A still from the film showing the RCCS flash and the varying height of the 'Canada' flash!
