Light Dragoon Variations
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what the significance of the colour / design variation is for these badges please? Is it just down to manufacturers or is it more than that ie OR's and WO's maybe? Thanks a lot, Michael |

Hi David,
Thanks for the help. So the one on the left is first pattern, the one on the right with the dark enamel centre is the second pattern. Do you know any dates of use? Michael |

1st pattern was from 1992,the 2nd pattern came in around 1995 I think. I'm not 100% on the 2nd pattern but definitely before 2000.
I was told that the blue was added to show the motto off more. |

That came from an LD Major.
I dont ever recall seeing an Officers bullion or Officers silver plate and gilt that didn't have the blue backing to the motto. |

I'm sure somebody will give us the definitive date.
I remember getting hold of the 1st pattern from Home HQ. An old thread says mid 1990s with the same NSN. Last edited by Mike H; 08-10-20 at 06:57 PM. |
