Default Violet Szabo..

Can anyone recommend books and or good resources on Violet Szabo....

This request is for my wife who is preparing a short paper on Violet for a history course she is taking. The internet is full of short clips on her but was looking for something more in depth. We will be viewing the movie done in 1958 and are looking for additional source materials. She is required to address the authenticity of the movie based on known facts.
Thanks in advance
Jack and my wife Tanya

Whilst Wikipedia is much derided in a scholarly sense as a source in itself nontheless the References and External links sections of a Wiki page often link to more peer reviewed and academic sources.

Worth a try if this is something you’d not already looked into?

Alternatively I see on the external links there is a museum plus a website maintained by her daughter who may be able to assist.

Default Books on Violette Szabo

I read "Carve Her Name With Pride" on which the movie was apparently based. It was many years ago and not knowing anything on her, I considered it a good read at the time. The book is by R.J. Minney.

Amazon has a more recent book called "Violette Szabo: The Life I Have" by Susan Ottway(?). Have not read this one, so cannot comment.

Good luck to your wife. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Ian

Jack.

Her George Cross sold via Dix Noonan Webb (understand Lord Ashcroft bought it) back in July 2015.

They did have quite a bit of info in the sale catalogue, so may want to have a look at there website.
