Australian Patches of Which I Know Nothing
About twenty years ago I purchased this lot of felt patches from an estate in Texas. The story was that the veteran who picked them up was stationed in Australia for a time during WWII. I have Glyde's book but I'm still having trouble trying to identify several of them. I'm quite certain that I've pictured a few of them upside down or sideways, but there you have it. Are there any in the group that are particularly remarkable or interesting? Any help would certainly be appreciated.
Best Regards, Dave |

Off the top of my head, the top one is the 2/10th Australian Armoured Regiment.

I really don't like the look of the central item -- at best it might be some kind of unfinished factory item (the grey background should have been cut into a circle) but I suspect it's a fake. A couple of others have that classic repro look. But I'd have to see them in more detail to swear on it.

Mick, the top one is all same colour patch of 10 Light Horse. I know that during WW2 they were part of a different unit, which I thought was '10th Armoured Brigade', I guess I got that wrong then and it was 2/10 Armoured Regiment? Can you tell me please, what other units apart from 10LH were involved, and did they all wear the 10LH colour patch of black and yellow.
Thank mate, john

Hi John,
Yes, that top one is the 2/10th Armoured Regiment. The 10th Light Horse had a rectangular colour patch during World War 2 and were a separate unit. As far as I know, these were the only two Armoured/Light Horse units in WA during WW2 that wore the yellow/black colour patch. Mick
