Lt D Russell? MC
Doug Russell MC is not mentioned in Commando Gallantry Awards of World War II by George A Brown. Neither does he appear in 101Troop Nominal Roll at HMS Lynx in 1941, which makes him interesting. I know a Capt D A Russell whose parent Reg was North Staffs did serve in No.6 and No.4 Commandos so it is probably him (101 Tp being part of No.6 Cdo). Any more info Tyneside Irish? Note the 'COMMANDO' is from a cut down VI above COMMANDO white embroidered on black rectangle example title.

In my humble opinion this is a fake, an identical one sold on Ebay recently,I heard a story that captain Montanero CO of 101 trp still had a lot after the war of unissued badges of just one pattern and believe that to be other pattern shown here by Blackpowder; also when you look at Doug Russell the colour is clearly a lighter shade of blue that the one first posted which is dark blue. Does anyone still have the Bosleys catalogue in which a vets one was auctioned? Cheers JB=wright241;111124]In conclusion, did the original post that started this all off have a real one or not? or has it died a death?[/QUOTE]
