Default Burmese Chinthe Brooch

Hi Folks

Just picked this up from eBay as I have an interest in all things Burmese, but my question is might it have been military rather than just a fancy brooch?
Regards
Sean

I too had my eye on this and meant to put in a bid at the last minute yesterday but forgot as I was caught up with work.

It is a chinthe for sure but the 'face' is a little different from the ones we usually see.. I thought it might be the central part of a 90 Punjabis badge. If you see on the reverse there is some indication that something was attached to it and filed off.. but you did well to get it very cheap I think for 14 gbp

Thanks for the quick response, yes this is the sort of thing I was thinking of or maybe a pipers brooch of some sort?

I thought the same, 90th Punjabis badge as you can see where the screw posts were, but on checking mine the screw posts are in a different position. See photo

The pin fittings are after market civilian fittings and not military, so were put on later in its life.

regards

There are many variants with slight differences in the chinthe of the 90 Punjabis badge..I'm almost certain this was part of a pouch/piper's badge...the brooch fitting us evidently a later addition.
