N Z Sig Corps J R Gaunt
Hello All, I have just received this J.R. Gaunt made New Zealand Signal Corp badge, it was described as being sterling silver (Obviously only the silver bit) also described as an Officer's Fire gilt badge. It is stamped J.R. Gaunt London, and also has an "S" stamped into the back. Any thoughts, could it be sterling silver?
Regards Phil. |

Perhaps the "S" just stands for Signals.

New Zealand Signals badge
Dear Phil.
Nice badge. Quite genuine. Grant badges stamped with an 'S' means silver. When it has the 'P; stamp on the rear it is a silver plated badge. Officer's badge of course not other ranks. Kind regards Chris Walker www.signalsbadges.co.uk |

Hi Phil,
Chris is correct in that 's' denotes silver and 'p' is for (silver) plate. I have a few badges with these markings and a couple by gaunt with the 's' marking. Can share images if needed? Lovely badge, well done. Cheers, Roy.

Just my opinion, but I think it would be best described as an Officer's gilt and silver badge.

Atilla is quite correct. It is best described as an officers gilt and sliver cap badge, and that includes Warrant Officers.

Thanks Gents, it's still a nice badge.
