The catalogue has been removed from Bosleys website but from memory it is something like the Liverpool Volunteer Infantry.

PB. you are correct, lot 487 of the January Postal catalogue, described as Liverpool Infantry Officer's gilt open back coatee button circa 1804-06.

I may be wrong but i think it is a button to the 1st Regiment Liverpool (Royal) Volunteers

That makes it pre 1800 then , when Banastre Tarleton was Colonel ?

1794-1813/16ish, The buttons condition is great but looks later period the lettering fits with the period with the 1 set below the L.
