Revolutionary Buttons etc.
Hello,
I am a new member. I have been trying to research some buttons that were given to me many years ago by my mother-in-law. They fit in with what I know about the history of her family who settled in Eastern Ontario & Quebec in the 18thC. All of these buttons were in the family chest along with other memorabilia. I would appreciate any discussion and information. I have been told by a military expert that I have identified the three military buttons correctly. Most of the information I find online is about excavated buttons of this type. These have obviously never been in the ground. I am looking for any information and also discussions on rarity and how to authenticate buttons? I live on Vancouver Island. Thank you for all discussion and assistance! 1. Two buttons from the 84th Regiment, or 'Royal Highland Emigrants'. 2. One button - Revolutionary War Loyalist (Royal Provincials) 'RP' Coat Button. 3. Unknown Navy Button (?) |

A Mr. Don Troiani has written a book on Revolutionary buttons. You need to consult this book, because the pewter buttons have been heavily reproduced.
If you still think they are genuine I can supply the details of a specialist trader. Can you post a good picture of the back of the Naval button? |
