SAS Pants?
Hello Gents,
I recently purchased a lot that contained many things, one of which are these pants. I am looking to confirm what they are and current value, since this is not my thing. Thank you in advance for your feedback! Cheers

They're worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for them!
Windproof camouflaged trousers are not especially rare and were issued across the British army in WWII not exclusively to the SAS. Round about £100 to £150. The matching smock however is far more valuable and these fetch up to £500 in good condition on a good day on ebay with lots of references to SAS in the listing...

Thanks for your feedback. When I searched for this type of stuff, I came across this site. As you said, value depends on what people are willing to pay.

They are what it says on the label, camo over trousers 1944 dated, most were issued to all units in Italy though no doubt some were also used by sf units. As already posted, about £100 or a bit more, though sometimes not that much!

Interestingly enough, I have one of these smocks that was “issued/given” to a 1st Can Para member upon him being discharged from the hospital in Belgium. They lost his Denison Smock and this is what they gave him as a suitable replacement. He wore this for the remainder of his time there and brought it back home with him.

Thanks Marc,
I had someone else say the same thing. The only reason I don't want to do that is they didn't actually come together. The smock is attributed to a 1st Can Para member, so simply keep it this way. Cheers

Pair on ebay-£91 at the moment. Write up on IWM site- http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30097346
Regards, Paul. PS Silvermans tend to have high prices. This type of kit also issued during the Korean War. Last edited by wardog; 03-01-17 at 05:45 PM. |
