Not particularily rare. Somewhat high selling price too. You can usually find the QC CSofC cap brass for about $20. The KC versions are somehwat harder to find. The QC collar badges, shoulder titles, and belt buckles are what seem to be rare, which is odd as one would think they would often be worn with the cap badge. I think overall the CSofC officers wore corps or regimental badges which makes the CSofC stuff harder to find.

Many CSofC officers limited themselves to battledress uniform and never bought Service Dress so never acquired any insignia beyond the cap badge. The buckle was always optional and most wore the issued web belt with standard hardware.

Francois - welcome aboard. We haven't communicated in a long while.

I was under the impression that this was a badge to the Civil Service Rifles?

In some photographs that I have seen it appears that officers may have worn the general service insignia.

To resurrect this thread again, I'd like to point out a very unique piece from Neil Martin's collection on Francois' website: http://armycadethistory.com/CIC/CIC_Uniforms_Badges.htm
It is a Corps of School Cadet Instructors (Militia) capbadge.

I would be inclined to agree that the C.S. bugle/horn badge was not a Cadet Services badge, as the CSofC was not official formed until 1924 and used the KC and Lion with Cadets.Canada scroll. The stumper is the PW Ellis Co Cadets.Canada marked badges bearing the date of 1916...? Perhaps this Cadets.Canada badge was also used as the generic issue cap badge for cadet corps lacking a specific badge or affiliated unit, and then adopted for CSofC officers in 1924 as well?
To support this thought, another picture from the website: http://armycadethistory.com/Mystery%...hotos_pg10.htm (Mystery photo #275) shows young men with rank stripes on their shoulders and the KC CSofC capbadge. Considering the age of the "colonel" in the front row, and the use of stripes instead of pips/crowns, I'd say they are cadet officers, not commissioned CSofC officers.

Default Rare cadet titles

Here is a set of rare cadet titles to the Banff National Army Cadet Camp, I think they are from the 1950's.

Neat! Perhaps an accoutrement for the Banff cadet pipe band?

Default Jacket patches WW2?

Not sure if these are WW2 or Korea era, kings crown.

I wonder if the small patch is actually some type of shoulder flash?

Probably patches for PT gear or Marksmanship jackets. Chances are the patch is not WW2; Army cadets recieved the title "Royal" in 1942 and given the state/scarcity of resources, probably produced postwar.

Default RCS CC130

This is my first contribution to the forum.
My uniform from the early 70s - Rothesay Collegiate School, in a little village outside of St John, NB.
At that time CC130 was affiliated to the 2nd RCR - they were stationed at CFB Gagetown.
Unfortunately CC130 was disbanded in 1995.

Nice uniform, you do not see this type of uniform much, usually the RCAC issue with silver buttons, is it wool, looks similar to a patrol blues uniform? What does the blue loop signify?

Thanks Tanker Mike
Its a black heavy wool uniform with black lining for the tunic, nice and warm for winter but not so good by spring time. A St John dept store Scovil Bros Ltd was contracted to supply our school with uniforms - but I don't know if they manufactured them or bought it from a third party - I didn't have to sew on any insignia, all done by the store. I think Scovil Bros had closed down by now.
We had 4 platoons, red/white/green/blue - it also referred to the 'house', I was in 'blue house' - its a boarding school term we used.
I look back with fondness to those days, visiting CFB Gagetown and the Oromocto range and surviving the 'arctic winter survival' course.

Joe

Default RC Army Cadets- looking for

Attached are photos of two Canadian cadet battledress (split over two postings), both differing in rank and the shoulder title backings. They are not my normal area of collecting so I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

Stephen.
