The Vile King Strikes Again! MMG Knock Up!
Hope the bidder on this is not a Forum Member? IMO this is a Knock up of a rank crown, soldered onto an early pattern MGC pair of MGs... Could well be an old repair but it is definately not what it appears to be!

Interesting how the front picture is crisp, yet the back picture is so blurry

MMG
The crown still has two loops N-S, obviously from a rank badge used to repair what might be an original MMG cap badge.

As soon as I saw who the vendor was - enough said. Not with a barge pole. Well spotted Andy. How does it feel to be a guru?

Looking at the other items the seller has for sale I'd have to say that there is definately something wrong with the camera they are using.
It doesn't like being used for the backs of the badges, only the fronts!! |

Hello All. I'm not supporting any point of view in this thread but will mention that if you use a scanner to show your badges and it is ONLY a scanner, the depth of field is much greater and the image recorded will be fairly sharp, back & front. (see my chrome badge in the S.A. badges thread) If you use a multi.use machine,(scanner/printer/copier) the depth of field is much less. Thus, when placing a badge lugs down,to capture the rear of the badge, the main body of the badge is now out of focus, resulting in blurred image. Ref. one of the badges mentioned here, I would suggest that two lugs on the crown would not be in keeping with normal manufacturing process for this kind of badge. With respect, David J.
