'The Wipers Times' 9pm Wednesday 11th Sept
Hi guys,
I thought I would draw attention to this program, coming on tomorrow. It looks like it could be well worth a watch. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01d0zrj Phil

I enjoyed it but cant believe that anybody would not immediately recognise , or know all about Winston Churchill in his stint as C.O. of a battalion of the RSF.

my only criticism [being picky], officers carrying rifles when going 'over the top' on the somme.

I think they mentioned the Canadians at Vimy early on- when it should have been in 1917. Regards, Paul.

I've just watched and enjoyed it, more than I thought I would as I was expecting something of a parody which was not really the case, except maybe with regard to the portrayal of the senior officers Ry |

It was "Canadians at Ypres", which would have been 1915.

Ah- thanks for that, I should have re played it and checked. I thought it was quite good and also enjoyed it. Kit looked quite good and helmets worn with chinstrap to the rear, use of other ranks kit by the officers in action etc.
Michael Palin and Ian Hislop have both been involved with serious Great War programs before. Regards, Paul. Last edited by wardog; 13-09-13 at 12:00 AM. |
