Default Cavalry & Yeomanry Regimental FS Caps WW2

In fact, I'd be very grateful if anyone could show what they have/know of this subject, but please do not confuse me (I'm a simple fellow) - WW2 only!!!

Default Cavalry etc.

I recently offered for sale or exchange a 32 page booklet entitled Regimental Badges and Service Caps which was published in 1941. The booklet illustrates (in colour) all field service caps of Staff, Household Cavalry, Cavalry, Yeomanry, Corps & Services, Guards, Infantry, Canadian, South African, Indian and Allied Forces. If of interest I am asking any reasonable exchange or 6.00GBP, postage included. PM me if it appeals. Regards. David

I assume that you mean the caps that they wore and not the cap badges?
There are some very interesting articles on various caps/berets/colours etc worn during WWII described in the Ulster Defence Regiment Benevolent Fund book - Badge backings and Special Embellishments of the British Army - aside from a lot of other useful information. As far as I know it is still in print.

Hello RTR, maybe not what you're looking for but, a very interesting album of the Canadian Coloured Field Service Caps by the well-known and renowned Clive Law of Ottawa. It will give you some ideas of what was worn by Canadian units in the 2ndWW. Some are similar to British units CFSC.
Cheers.
Jo

Thanks guys - I am just finishing off a book on the British AFV crewman in WW2 ("The Men Inside The Metal", due publication November) and have amassed a lot of gen about the caps, but:
1 I always seek confirmation, and none better than those who lurk here and specialise in certain regiments
2 I lack photos, both during the war and from modern personal collections
3 Info on badges worn would always be useful - another minefield and a subject in itself!

Default Research

There was a magazine produced many years ago called Military History Illustrated - which you may still be able get hold of - I have a complete run from 1 to 60. There is an immense amount of material in these and quite a number of in-depth articles/pictures etc. Notwithstanding copyright issues, if you could be a bit more specific about certain units or the theatre of war area, I could try and track down the information and see if there are any articles - I then give you the issue number so that you can try and track down a specific issue for yourself - via E..y or whatever.

Thanks, I have that booklet. Dare I suggest it, but there are some errors in it! But it is a useful start point!
