Oh dear, now I have to admit I cut the smiley out of Phil's message which would have shown he was joking. Sorry mate. By the way I have been looking at your albums - some good stuff there.

Well.

I feel like an 18 year old, but Motherofthree won't let me have one.

Regards to everyone, no matter what age you are or may claim to be.

Hello Robin,
As you can tell by my user name, even though I reside in the Arizona desert I have more than a passing interest in your city of Arnhem and its history during WWII. Welcome to the forum, and I must say I'm very impressed with your command of the English language. I had the opportunity to visit your city, Oosterbeek, the Hartenstein Museum, and the surrounding area in 1997. My wife and I had the very good fortune to be guided about by Andries Hoestra, the webmaster of www.marketgarden.com. As you already know you are on hallowed ground, to the British Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces, as well as the Dutch People. If you have the time and inclination you may want to visit my blog page: http://www.arnhemjim.blogspot.com. Again the warmest of greetings.
Yours aye,
Jim

Hi Jim,

thank you for your welcome. My command of the english language comes by gaming and the subject accent at school. My english was so good, that i, in order to get a good grade, must speak almost all the time in the performanes we did during accent. I recognise a few things on your images. The piat and the piatgrenade, The sten, the pipes, the kilt in almost the same tartan as mine and the fly plaid. And one question to you. How do the wunderwaffens and special weapons of the british armed forces like the piat get in american collections?

Best regards,

Robin.

Hi Robin,
Believe it or not, it all started when I was a small boy and began collecting W. Britains toy soldiers. Being of Scottish ancestry my interests tended in that direction. While a midshipman our summer cruise took us to Edinburgh, with a train visit to London. In the 1960's through the 80's I lived in the metropolitan Los Angeles area where there was a very large gun and militaria show on a regular basis. If you visit my blog page you will find that later as a naval intelligence officer I became interested in the failure of the military planners to use the information they had at hand during the planning of Operation Market-Garden.
Yours aye,
Jim

Robin
I have been to the Airborne Museum several times, the airborne cemetery, a very spiritual event the first time, the drop zones, the bridge, and just about every thing of importance. St Elizabeth"s Hospital took a bit of finding, because it no longer exists as a hospital.
Do you take an interest in operation Market Garden ? Collecting the badges of the units involved would be a good exercise for you.
Cheers Peter
