Some SAS and whole bunch of fake Selous Scouts stuff
Only one of the Selous Scouts para wings is period genuine. Everything else that is supposed to be Rhodesian is fake. I have notified the seller.
The army shoulder patches are made by Andrew Butler and are still sold by him as copies. The period genuine Selous Scouts para wing #0826 was never issued. Hardly a grouping that can be attributed as the seller claims and asking £600. See photos. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MakeTrack=true $_12-(7).jpg $_12-(1).jpg $_12-(5).jpg $_12-(4).jpg $_12-(6).jpg |

Hello Peter,
This sort of thing really does annoy me, there is just no need for it, the badges and in particular, the collars, are awful, £600 is lot of money for so much rubbish! Regards Frank |

This morning I have a message from the seller.
He states that he has ended the listing and will shortly list items separately so that the detail will be easier to see. This obviously means the fakes will be easier to see. He also stated that it wasn't his intention to mislead. I will wait to see what is relisted. |

The seller Michael Burroughs of Cambridgeshire has relisted all of his items again but this time separately.
All are fakes, copies, reproductions or whatever you want to call them. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MakeTrack=true http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/silver-rh...MakeTrack=true http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/vintage-r...E:B:SS:AU:3160 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/vintage-s...E:B:SS:AU:3160 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/vintage-g...f4c3b74&_uhb=1 |

Some of it looks ghastly, especially those collar dogs. No wonder there are no bids!

Hello Peter,
Sadly, all too common these days, some people, including dealers, just seem to have a problem with the word copy, either that, or they are convinced the item in question is the real thing. Of course, maybe this seller is merely dishonest! Regards Frank |

Received this uninspiring message from Mike (mike1060_1) the seller tonight. All punctuation is his.
"i am sure they are real / original best regards mike" My reply which I am positive will be the last. "Hello Mike, I'm always amazed when people like yourself who have little or no knowledge of Rhodesian items then want to tell a person like myself who had a 48 page website dedicated to Rhodesian militaria, what is period genuine and what is not. If you can't tell the difference between the rubbish copies you are selling as genuine and the actual ones that are genuine then God help you because I certainly can't. Regards, Peter" RhArmy-patches.jpg |

Sadly Peter, this is often the attitude of some dealers who just simply don't know what they are doing when it comes to badges, then again, some do, of course, know exactly what they are doing!

Sold by Michael Burroughs (mike1060_1) for a total of £207 (AU $377.72). He was informed by me that all of these items were fakes or copies. He did not add anything I said to his listings and never changed the description of any of his listings.
In his original listing, Item # 201079917389 he stated that these items "formerly belonging to the same man, a member of the selous scouts." He has never named this person. Fake Selous Scouts officer's beret badge Item #390830483116 Sold for £62 (AU $112.93). $_12 (12).JPG$_12 (13).JPG Fake Selous Scouts officer's collar badges Item #390830423015 Sold for £73 (AU $132.96). $_12 (10).JPG $_12 (11).JPG Fake Selous Scouts OR's beret badge Item #390830486339 Sold for £45.11 (AU $82.16). $_12 (9).JPG Fake Rhodesian Army shoulder patches # 390830236476 Sold for £21 (AU $38.25). $_121.JPG Fake SAS or RhSAS para wing # 390830242676 Sold for £6.27 (AU $11.42). $_12 (8).JPG I have informed this seller that he is deceitful and dishonest. As usual I have received the 'usual' verbal rubbish back from him that I normally get from these types of people. I'm used to it. Caveat Emptor! |
