Default ww1 medal

hi not sure this is right place to ask but i have a ww1 medal with the name m 7983 e.h.read e.r.a.5 .rn stamped on it was wondering if anyone can tell me what era5 stands for thanks guys.

Generally, ERA equals Engine Room Artificer , sort of a posh stoker ... waiting for the incoming !!
