Default "Mailed Fist" Badge

Hello,

Could anyone tell me the approximate date of this patch? Is it wartime?

Thanks!

Formerly (and formally) known as the Combined Services Invisibility Training and Development Establishment, I believe. World War 2 vintage.

You need to show the reverse as well to get a worthwhile opinion.

Just for reference, how do you tell the difference between this and the 6th Armoured badge?
There is no picture showing on your post and that is why you have some strange opinions posted, including Mikes with no picture.

The background for 6th Armoured Division is black and that for 20th Armoured Brigade is blue.

I would say that the example posted is late War or 1950s vintage. It was in use for so long in its original format it is difficult to be specific. Early eaxmples were EonF and some later examples worn in BAOR were in a form of "Bevo" weave. Printed examples are surprisingly rare. It was not made or worn in facing pairs.

Spot on about rarity. I had loads of these (the woven one) which I used as 'swaps' - as you do.... But I can't recall ever seeing a printed version. I am talking about late 50's early 60's.

Having bought some of these recently I spent time trolling through old threads etc and this type does not appear to match any WWII examples and looks to be woven as Mike said and probably dates from circa 48 onwards, unless it is of the brabant weave type.
