Default Unknown button - any ideas?

Good Evening

Can anyone identify the attached domed naval-type button? I have been told it is something to do with Naval Artificers but I have also been told it isn't and that it is actually something to do with Naval Architects.

I can't find any information about it anywhere!

It is of modern construction and there is no makers mark on the back. The crown at the top of the button resembles a Ducal Coronet rather than a Royal Crown.

Any help in identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pete

It is from the Training Ship Northampton. There are two designs and they are side by side in the sample books sold in Ipswich many years ago.

Now been able to find out about the Northampton!

The Training Ship Northampton was formerly HMS Sharpshooter. The ship was leased by the Royal Navy to the Marquis of Northampton (hence the coronet) in 1904. It was moored on the Thames and offered training in technical subjects to poor boys. In 1918 the ship was given to the Sea Scouts. It was broken up in 1922.
