Army Dental Corps plastic economy
Not unknown, but unlisted in Kipling & King, Gaylor, Wilkinson etc. - Army Dental Corps economy cap badge in light bronze plastic. Got this with a group of other WW2 badges from an old collection, all authentic.

And with a slider - trials pattern abandoned as the crown was prone to snapping off?

A rare badge I think and I assume you have been messaged about buying it.

Very nice to see - thanks for sharing!
I had heard there was a Royal Army Pay Corps trial pattern too. Just goes to show, some are still out there. As advised - rare and I would think highly desirable. Mike |

Was informed many years ago that ' Plastic badges ' were made in the A D C labs In those days it would have been an alginate impression and made from this The labs had all the equipment and skills to make these Frank Stephens ex secretary of crown imperial had one which he sold when he disposed his corps collection I will try and find my notes to see what fittings they had Unmarked badges
NB Not saying this is one of them Off topic Recently acquired a K/C o s d 1948-54 [ ex Charles Thomas collection ]the only 1 I've seen in 45 years of collecting to the corps David Last edited by 49lassiepen; 10-06-19 at 10:15 AM. |

Hi David
You jogged my memory - I believe the one Frank had was pink in colour, I had forgotten all about it. Frank had some interesting stuff, I went to London to one of his collection auctions - I think it was through Crown Imperial - came away with a few nice things, at very reasonable prices. He was a good man. Mike |

It was worth the bid. The other badges were nice, too, if a bit filthy.

I am surprised there is only one, I think there are a few keen collectors of plastic badges and this must be quite an uncommon badge.
Certainly an interesting and unusual badge, thanks for sharing it.

Does anyone know why?, if the Army Dental Corps had a plastic badge it would not be chocolate brown in colour as in the case of other Corps economy plastic badges

Presumably for the same reason/s as the Army Educational Corps and Physical Training Corps?

There is some variance in plastic colours - suffolks for excample are found in both gold and silver whilst GSC come in brown but can be found in gold. Logically the APTC should be in grey but are brown for some reason.

Thanks for replies, whilst reading up on them my mind blipped on the RAEC and APTC, the article showing only the brown badges
