Default 2 Corps District vehicle signs

Whilst nosing through the War Diary for 30 Norfolk(WO166/12638)I found the following comment dated 06.04.43.
"76 Div inform Bn that vehicle markings will continue to be 2 Corps District Sign (white cat on Cambridge blue background), and number 871 on background of red over brown divided horizontally".

I hope this might be of some use to someone.
Stephen.

Stephen,
Very useful - many thanks for posting it. This was one of several British formation signs of the 1941-43 period which remain in obscurity since the 2 Corps District cat sign was never, to my knowledge, ever worn on uniform. Signs in this category are a particular interest of mine. The unit serial on the red/brown backing (indicating a Home Defence battalion) is also of interest.

Thanks Stephen
I had not heard of a red over brown serial backing.

The WO produced a small booklet on vehicle signs about April 1942. A copy is lodged in the National Archives, Kew, and I have taken photos of it. I've put up the front page, but I believe copy write prevents me posting every page. Please email me if you need more info.

Stephen.
