Default Infantry corps badge

Good evening,

I need your advice about this badge found in Belgium. Do you think it is a genuine one ?

No problems with that patch.... except how it ended up in Belgium. That patch was only supposed to be worn in Canada. It was to be taken down when the reinforcement arrived in the UK.

have this example in the post, seems good and is a very pleasing looking patch.

what is the history with these, I assume this was a formation patch. I have seen the lower part as a title. 1942 until when?

Technically, this was a shoulder title. There is more information in Fabric of War about the Infantry Corps insignia.
Due to the shape and size of the badge, it was confused with formation patches. And, it was not the type that the Canadian Army in the UK was wearing. It was only worn by personnel in the CIC in Canada. When sent overseas, the patch was supposed to be removed. The patch was not liked by the personnel who wore it, and it became soiled very easily. As a result, the white part was to be cut off and the bottom white and scarlet part was worn as a title. That was primarily in Canada as the overseas title CANADIAN / INFANTRY CORPS was embroidered or printed in rifle green on scarlet, the two colours of the regiments of the corps.
