Not a name I've come across? but then it was a large regiment with 2 battalions (that didn't really interact).

Hi David, dont know him personally but he gets 2 mentions in the book 1 WESSEX by Martin Lee Browne. He was in A Company 1 Wessex in the early 70s. There is also a colour photograph of the officers at the Presentation of Colours parade in 1973 which he is in. First name Roger.

Hi Sean thanks for your PM. Attachments are from a booklet dated 1973 about the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment and the other from 'Cold war warriors' the history of the DERR appendix 5.
My take on the silver anodised badge is this. Both documents state that the anodised gold badge was for Colour Sergeants and all ranks junior, while Warrant officers and Officers had a white metal badge.
As Warrant Officers class 1 wore Officers No1 dress caps the metal badge with 2 lugs fits fine, but a Warrant Officer class 2 wore an other ranks cap that is designed for a slidered badge.
Both Officers and WO1's wore the embroidered badge on their beret but not a WO2.
The collection of DERR badges is in the Wardrobe museum, Salisbury the last time I visited.
Hopefully someone will give a better explanation.
