Red face My mistake!!

The National Army Museum has a photo of David Stirling with Jock Lewes.

https://www.nam.ac.uk/explore/lewes

It looks like the caption on the photo was correct and David Stirling did smoke a pipe!

I think, given the description, my mind would be well and truly made up by any slider pocket.

the quality of beret photograph is sufficient to discern the chain stitch on the lining. this feature has been attributed to post war manufacture. veterans wear berets to suit, not really bothered with vintage. is the colour beige or tan ?

I too thought the shoulder title was maybe one of the best deals there and my rational left hand was fighting with my collecting right bidding finger a la Dr. Strangelove.

Does anybody know who picked up the majority of the pieces?
