Hereford badge
Hi All
Can anybody tell me what this is please? It looks too big to be a collar, about 45mm wide. It is marked sterling so most likely an officer badge. Closest I can find is KK 1784. Thanks, cheers, Alex |

"Churchill's" states no collar badges worn pre-1880.
1880-1908. "The Gaunt pattern books show an officer's collar badge, in silver, with the manufacturers name J & R Pearce & Co under the heading "Herefordshire 1 RV". Illustrated is a lion passant gaurdant, holding in one paw, a sword, the remaining three paws on a torse.. (Fig. 2010). On their Service Dress, Officers wore similar but in bronze........................Other Ranks wore similar, but smaller and in white metal........" Unfortunately badge measurements aren't given but I wouldn't be surprised if your badge is a collar. |

Thanks. Surprised at that, it looked too big for a collar, but a super badge anyway. Not my interest so I might move it on.
