Royal Engineers or New Zealand Engineers?
This badge arrived today and was described as a New Zealand Engineers mess dress badge.
I’m curious as to whether the attribution is correct or whether it’s actually a Royal Engineers No.1 dress collar? Either way, I’m more than happy with the badge itself.

Would the NZ Engr's have a (Collar) badge made by LUDLOW LONDON??
I suppose it is possible. QUOTE=ajc347;574601]This badge arrived today and was described as a New Zealand Engineers mess dress badge. The NZE did wear this silver/gilt collar badge (Oldham 8/175)
However I suspect that the British RE did also so it isnt a badge that would be unique to NZ. regards

I’ve heard that this was an RE mess dress collar but not found anything to substantiate it. I also heard that it was worn by an RE TA unit. Also related, I came across this in another member’s album and they indicated that it was worn by the Sapper contingent during the coronation of King Edward VIII in 1936 (I don’t know where this info came from though). It would be good to get something concrete.
There is also an RA version with 7 flames
