WW2 Officers Para Badge - Marked JR Gaunt London

Hi all, I picked up this Para badge recently and was hoping for some information of its background. Its a voided crown with makers mark to the rear JR Gaunt London and the letter P stamped on the center. It came with a medal group to a Para officer who was WIA and captured at Arnhem.

Not much to add as it's a nice Gaunt made officers' silver-plated cap badge. Without any hallmarks to provide a date it could be from mid1940s to the 1950s but it would be nice to think that it was his original WW2 badge.

nice WWII period officers silver (P for plated) plated para beret badge by Gaunt, probably wartime. It has the die flaws seen on gaunt para badges

Very nice. As Alan says an original silver plate officer’s cap badge by Gaunt. Could very easily be wartime and at Arnhem with him.

If he didn’t continue serving after liberation then I think you could reasonably safely assume it is his wartime badge since a replacement KC silver plate many years later for reunions or commemorative purposes is less likely.

Nice badge, it's the first plated Gaunt example I've seen with the makers name.

Very interesting badge. Possibly one of the earliest private purchase badge made by Gaunt with only one of the three common die flaws.
