Which bullion arm badge are you talking about? Do you mean the grenade/bomb badge? Can you show a picture?

Yes, the flaming grenade. Specificaly the gold bullion that was worn on the scarlet tunic. Was it the same as the collar badge?

Hi Colin,

I know that the arm badge and collars were different in more recent times up to the present but not sure for the scarlet tunic.

Jerry has something that may fit the bill but when we spoke of it last he was still undecided.

Not much help I'm afraid but good luck with your enquiry and if I find anything I'll of course let you know.

Regards

Ry

I don't think it was a special pattern but I beleive that the arm grenade was bigger then the collar badge. I have a few in my collection that I still need to identfy as either arm or collar, scarlet or No 1 dress or even mess dress. Here are a couple of picture's:-

I have always found the sleeve badge to have a vertical centre flame and the colars bend downwards, therefore last image two right collar badges for No.1 Dress. Of course mess dress collars are different and have the scroll.

Jerry, others will chip in, but I think your first one (left as I see it) is actually a Grenadier Guards officers' cap badge

I would be inclined to agree with staffsyeoman about Jerry's badge on the left. It looks exactly like the one I have which was bought as a Grenadier Guards officer's cap badge. Having said that, I have seen pictures of GG officer's cap badges having a slight slant to the left with the top flames (i.e. Robin Hodges' book). David

Marc/David,

I hear what you are saying but this was sold and brought as a RE badge. I have looked at some GG bullion badges for sale and although they have seven(7) flames, as the RE have, they tend to slant/bend to the left and the flames are more seperate and pointed.
I will leave mine as RE for now and do some more investigation into them.

You want to pack that multi tasking lark in Jerry, you don't want beer and curry on your keyboard mate

I'm always telling the Mrs that multi tasking is a female skill, I find it impossible to wash up and breath at the same time so usually just settle for the breathing part

Do you still have that "OLD" bullion grenade that you showed me?

Ry
