I won't go into detail but when I was still working in government my connections knew of my hobby and would occasionally pass me badges. The most bizarre one was a joint service unit overseas which had a distinguishing cloth badge made - they didn't call it a TRF - but was only to be worn within the confines of the unit. Going "outside the wire" it had to be taken down on pain of strong censure.

We all know of cases where enterprising manufacturers - and opportunist sellers - have taken letterheads and/or unit signboards and turned them into cloth signs that were never worn for real.

It’s a minefield of misinformation and eBay sellers ready to make a quick buck,
Whilst I have a little knowledge on the subject I won’t share anything in public.

There are some real gems out there being worn and some just for morale within the Squadrons,
One day it maybe more public but for now some of us will have to wonder

But I will say buyer beware
