Just to compare a few obvious differences to the Royal Malta Militia Other Ranks cap badge. Both cap badges are genuine.

Top image shows bullets between the inscription Royal Malta Militia while the on the bottom image these were omitted. The crown's cushion has no details unlike the image below. Also note the loops for the garter. Top image loops are less defined compared to the bottom image. The garter's buckle are slightly different in design. The laurels of the top image are more rounded and slightly less defined then the ones on the lower image.

Both pieces come in a flattish or rounded central roundel.
