Alan, Do you know if these have the makers' names on the sliders? Alan |

Any chance of a rear view of this one - I really would like to see the reverse of this one before I add it to the relevant web page basically because I've never seen one before.

I can ask, but it has taken me a few months to get the front view.

Also ask if he has any objections to me using it in my web pages and what watermark to use over it if allowed to be used. If you can get new photo with a white background (dedicated scanner) or photo with a piece of blank A4 paper as the background even better. Many Thanks !!! Regards Chris |

Chris,
The reason that any a/a Lancs Fusiliers badge would be so rare (if found to be genuine) is that they wore cloth beret badges post war which meant that they rarely wore metal ones and even then they would not have used up existing stocks that fast. In addition I don't think that any TA regt or unit wore the badge post 1958 unlike say the Yorks and lancs or the South Lancs for example. Alan |

LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS makers name
Alan, Chris,
The last time I saw a Lancashire Fusiliers cap badge in anodised aluminium there was no makers name on the reverse (slider) - stupidly I didn't buy it because of this fact! Hope this helps. Colin |

Colin,
Thanks. There is a strong possibility that the older 1950s patterns are being reproduced with blank sliders so that is interesting. I only saw this by the amount of pristine die struck ones that are appearing for sale. Alan |

Lancs Fusiliers
The one in my friends collection has a rather dull finish and is broken at the top of the grenade.I dont know if the slider is marked or not,im still waiting for him to send me the images. He has had the badge for at least 10 years so i presume that it is genuine.

Alan, Colin.
If it was anodised aluminium and not this thin plate that is being used for knock offs as per our thread on fake items then it would be rare and I would love to see it. Colin, can you get your hands on it again. I don't fret to much about lack of name on slider and am aware that genuine sliders with names are put on the fake items. We need a web page with fake items set up too with obverse and reverse photos (on white background if possible). To keep the ligatous fakers happy we could call the page 'Staybrites Of The British Army - Contemporary Pieces - No accuracy to description given or implied' or similar. Note that we don't use the words 'Anodised Aluminium'. If anyone wants to do this via Picasa (which uis what I use) all you need to do is set up a Google Gmail account and you are off. Good way to record your own personal collections too. I can help out if any takers on loading up the photos etc. By the way - I will be off line for most of weekend coming and next week as I'm going to hospital to have a full knee replacement. Dodgy tackle from some London Scottish rugby players back in 1982. Hope to finish all outstanding correspondence/photos etc. (so if you have any do send them) by then. If you want to send photos send to: hagwalther at gmail dot com Not putting the full proper address here as web spiders capture it for the spam merchants. Regards Chris |

Chris, you can create a "private album" for viewing by invited contacts/ friends, which is ideal for detailed discussions of the fakers techniques (comments can be added to each photo by your viewers.) -mods get to see it as well i should add (although these anodised threads are PhD level badge collecting to me - I'll just sit at the back of the class and keep my mouth shut)
