Funnily enough I was looking at that a little while ago, but that area was established in 1975, this badge is earlier than that I reckon.

Forget I said that, of course it's not, NCD is not NDC.
I wonder what it actually is, a strange title if it is military

Aah Frank I miss you too, very much, and many more of my forum pals. I do try and pop by, I should try anď participate more though, but I fear I don't have a lot to contribute at the moment other than basic daftness.
I have no clue on this wretched badge, last suggestion was Nigerian Customs Dept but I have a gut feeling that it doesn't quite fit with that. It seems old, but it could be from anywhere so I'm a bit lost with it. It may always remain a mystery, and the thought of that irritates me more.
Anyway, hope you are keeping well in the strange times we find ourselves in. I'm keeping busy in my extensive grounds, and have started cataloguing my badges, so it's nice seeing badges on my lists that I have bought from fellow forum friends, they bring back many good memories, and a lot of laughs that we have had along the way.

Allison,
Looking at the construction (sand cast) I would be thinking a bazaar made item in either India or Central to North Africa. Also I don't believe it is a converted shoulder title. It appears to have been constructed with the pin method of attachment, so possibly some sort of head dress badge that could be easily removed if needed.

As to NCD... it appears to be anyone's guess but I'm positive the riddle will be solved.

Hi Steven, thanks for your info. I have to say it doesn't look very sandcast to me, but then the sandcast pieces I have are a lot more rough and ready so I'll take your word for it. Always the possibility it's a badge and not ST, very close up it looks like a loop may have been removed, but then maybe that's due to manufacture if sand cast. Hopefully the mystery will be solved.
