Isle of Wight Rifles
Just bought this badge at a flea market. Is it from an original die. Appears to have been made as a sweetheart although full cap badge size. Not sure if is is silver or not.
Officers badge converted?? Cheers John |

Hi, although unable to comment on the die, the way the pin system is made on the back looks like an old one (i.e. not repro). Many thanks.

Are there any marks on it and is there a chance you could add a photo next to a coin or provide some measurements pls?

Kipling and King sates the badge was issued in silver, presumably for officers.
Would it have a pin type fitting or is this a full cap badge size sweetheart. I note an identical badge was on the forum, silver and pinned, attracting no comments some years ago. The fittings for the pin are very robust, so could this be the standard officers fitting method for the silver cap badge? |

The pin fitted isn't original to the badge and has been converted cheaply to a sweetheart or mufti as they back then.

It may not be silver. It looks to be like somebody hs tried to remove the black finish and left a residue of paint which looks like tarnish?
