Default Unknown Helmet Badge?

Not really sure what this is.
Has lugs on the reverse.
Helmet plate? is it even Victorian?

Thanx for any help.

I think I can make out the name FONSON on the bottom of the badge. If so then it is probably Belgian. Try googling fonson brussells, they also made swords.
