I would just say as a cautionary note to members reading this thread there are, for many regiments and badges, often more fake or reproduction dies than just the Marsh type alone.

A badge not matching the Marsh example is a plus but not a guarantee in itself.

For the Devon’s we have at least the Marsh type fake, shown in post #24, the FN die restrike (sometimes found with the notorious ENGLAND marked sliders), and also the type with several die flaws to the lettering in the circlet.

There may be more...

The above does not include other repro attempts such as cast copies etc.

Not much help I'm afraid, but clearly yours and mine with the same messily applied replacement loops are not from the same die, but neither do they, to my eye, exhibit overwhelming similarities to any of the common fakes regularly seen on eBay and also shown in this thread (9,10,24,32).

My jury is totally out on mine, but I shall keep it as an example until I feel comfortable with it or there is incontrovertible evidence that it is indeed a complete minger.
