Default RASC Motor Boat Company.

Does any one have info on RASC 247 Motor Boat Company in Italy.
Am trying to find out a local soldier that died on this day July 3rd. 1945 very strange as the war in Italy was over. No known grave.

Found a thread on another forum about 247 company RASC :
"The documents suggest that this ship was carrying supplies from Piraeus to Kalamata and was lost in heavy seas. "

There is also ' a letter of recommendation for bravery' for one of the crew which includes the following passage ;

"with a crew of 11 RASC personel from "I Detachment" 247 Coy RASC Piraeus had sunk in a heavy sea off Cape Grosso at 1700hrs Tuesday 3rd July 45."
