Tracing WW2 military records of RTR Trooper Peter Grandison
Hello all
I have recently come into possession of some memorabilia belonging to Trooper Peter Grandison service number 7939343 who served with the RTR during most of WW2 and then with the BAOR for a few years. I have done numerous on line searches using websites such as Force Records etc and identified that he was born in Musselbrough Scotland on 2/6/1923 and died on 28/5/93 but have been unable to find anything about his military service. From what I can find on line it appears that I will have to make a written application to the MOD for his services records which is not easy when you live overseas. Apart from MOD is there any other place where these records may be held? Thanks Dennis |

There is a 25 year limitation from date of death for full service records which has passed,
However you need a copy of his death certificate, or the MOD will assume that a person is still alive until they would have reached 116 years of age https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-...vice-personnel https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-...th-certificate |

Thanks Mike, I will see if I can get a copy of his death certificate and then lodge an application. Dennis
