Default 29 regiment worcestershire valise star 1840-1881

Hi

Can anyone tell me if this is an original and what it is made of please? It's obviously cast

Hi Martyn,

It is Valise Star worn by ORs pre-1857-1881 (Bennett 1102), a cast example with central bolt. These are not uncommon with a brass sleeve for attaching to the pack, cheers Dean

Many thanks Dean that's nice to know. This was another boot sale find from a boot sale near Norton Barracks in Worcester so it has a nice very local connection.

They are most often seen as die struck gilding metal with a box section fitting to slide over the equipment straps but 4 loop and 2 loop examples are also seen. This is the first I have seen with such a bolt fitting. Cheers Dean
