GLOUCESTERSHIRE HUSSARS
Hi all, just a general info question. Just picked up this J.R. Gaunt sample of the Gloucestershire Hussars and wondered on what type of manufacture it was, being solid.
And, based on the photo, the reason for what look like quite long lugs. Cheers Simon. |

a good looking badge, similar to the gilt version, though obviously not gilt!
I recently picked one up, a shame if such a nice badge was a duffer.

..... it would be interesting to know if there is a post 1970 AA with the same mark?

Modern manufacture I would say.
Very similar long loops are also found on the clearly repro GH IY badges. I’d suggest these post date the 1970s. Whether they were ever issue items, PRI purchase or simply all reproductions I can’t say... yet. |

I think that the badge.could well be for the side cap.
Some time ago ,I went hunting through the IWM archive. There was a mention of a lugged badge to the RGH for use in the side hat. It supposedly existed in anodised,I never come across an anodised version, only with a slider. The IWMs idea of anodised isnt always correct. So I think this could be one of these badges. |

Luke ,maybe Bess could help us with the variation of makers. I know he collects to different makers. I certainly recall coming across a Dowler Birmingham slider version.
I never managed to see the IWM item as there was no image against the listing. But as I said previously, I've never come across a lugged anodised version . |

I assume the jury is still out on the badge I shared or is it the collector market 70's issue it most likely seems to be?
