Default 4th Armoured Brigade signs

All,
Would like to verify the authenticity of these prior to sale. The are of all wool and cotton construction.
Thanks and Cheers,
CB

Hello,
I have checked all my embroidered jerboas, their back are black.
Are you sure that the thread used for the jerboa is cotton ? A simple burn test will confirm it : if the thread melts, it's not cotton.

I worried out a bit of the white thread to test, and it is indeed not cotton
I had wondered about them as all the originals seem to have a black back as you mentioned. Oh well....

This printed version of the polar bear is, for me, post WW2. Close observation of original WW2 printed version (head up) shows slight differences, for instance the different ghosting of the bear at the back or the white part in the mouth of the bear.

Hmmm, thanks for that. Is there any solid evidence that these are post war?
I note the slight differences in the printed version of this sign.

No solid evidence unless close observation on original 49th Div combinations.

Thanks, I normally put duff stuff right in the trash bin and would hate to do that if there is any chance they are OK.

You are right not to put it in the trash bin, hence these printed badges could be post WW2 originals.

Just to resurrect this thread, here is a printed Polar Bear formation sign which is on the nurses cape I posted here:
https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=84625

I would say that this is definitely WWII, almost all the patches are printed.
Cheers,
Alex

For me, the cloth badge you show is the WW2 printed pattern.
The Post war printed pattern is slightly different.
See my picture : above the WW2 pattern, below the post war pattern.

Thanks N18, I see the difference now. I don't collect patches so don't know much about them at all.
Cheers,
Alex
